Single Plantation MAVA domaine / terroir cacao
Cocoa of Excellence winner 2019 & 2017
MAVA plantation of 1726 hectares was purchased in 2015 and spans the upper and lower Sambirano valley of Madagascar. The MAVA plantation includes 8 farms offering different terroir cacao with own unique flavour profiles - Ankidony, Ambalahonko, Ambohimena Nord, Ambohimena Sud, Antsamala, Maliolo, Ambodivato and Ottange. Farmers are led by Madame Hanta Rajaonera and directed by Thomas Wenisch.
A spicy "terroir" cacao, vanilla aromas, woody with light floral notes, chocolaty and without acidity.
A tropical "terroir" cacao with acidity, coffee aromas, caramel, honey and coconut.
A slightly tangy "terroir" cacao with hints of yello fruits, honey, roasted nuts and leather. In 2017 MAVA Ottange wins the Cocoa of Excellence Awards at the Salon du Chocolat Paris in October 2017.
